Manuka Honey – A Unique Gift from Nature

Manuka honey comes from the native New Zealand Manuka shrub (Leptospermum scoparium), a plant that thrives in the country’s rugged and remote landscape. New Zealand’s long geographic isolation has allowed its flora and fauna to evolve in a distinctive way, giving rise to plant species found nowhere else in the world.

The Manuka plant ranges from low-growing shrub to small tree and flowers for only a short period each year. During this time, bees collect nectar that gives Manuka honey its characteristic profile. For generations, Māori communities valued the Manuka plant as part of their traditional practices.

Honey bees were introduced to New Zealand in the 19th century, and over time Manuka honey became known for its distinctive composition. Modern scientific research has since helped to better understand the naturally occurring compounds that make this honey unique.

Manuka Honey Specialists

MNZ proudly produces its bee products in New Zealand. Harvesting, processing and packaging take place in our own facility, operating under the strict standards set by the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI).

Our raw, monofloral Manuka honey is defined by purity, traceability and consistent quality. Wooden beehives are placed in remote, unspoiled regions of New Zealand to reduce environmental exposure and maintain a natural setting for our colonies.

At MNZ, healthy bee colonies are the foundation of everything we do. Our beekeepers closely monitor hive conditions to ensure that bees can thrive and produce Manuka honey in stable surroundings.

Because our hives are located in isolated rural areas, the risk of environmental contamination is minimized. In addition, every batch of Manuka honey undergoes rigorous laboratory testing to confirm that it meets strict quality standards and is free from unwanted residues.
